Catherine Morrisey paints the local landscape in free vibrant strokes of oil colour on canvas. The woods, river and garden out her backdoor provide endless inspiration and subjects for painting. Canvases range in size from small square footers to large multi-panel murals that can cover a huge wall. Her studio is in an old auto body shop. The original paint room for painting cars has large doors that open and let the breezes flow through. Sometimes a bird will fly in from the woods and out the other side to the garden.
Catherine admires the work of artists David Milne, Chaim Soutine, Bonnard, and Monet. She also studies traditional Chinese landscape painting.
