Allyson Proulx would like to acknowledge that her studio is situated on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenausaune, Lenape, Huron-Wendat and Attawandaron peoples. She recognizes the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations to the development of London, and to all of Turtle Island (North America).
As a guest on this land, Allyson invites you into her home studio where she is focused on storytelling, through textiles, fibre arts, collage, and bookmaking. The body of work Allyson is currently developing visualizes themes of grief, tenderness, exploration, and identity. Working out of her home, and as her pseudonym Lefty Smudges suggests, Allyson is playful and imperfect, singular and comforting – her home studio is an apt reflection.
